Reikon is the Dutch agent for Gefico water makers. Gefico manufacture evaporators, reverse osmosis units and copper iron generators under the name Aquamar. Using our extensive knowledge of these products we can advise you on the best solution for your specific needs.
Evaporators
The Aquamar evaporator provides drinking water onboard of ships. Waste water that ‘s left over from the main engine cooling water is used to make drinkable water. Sea water is brought to the boil via a vacuum created by the warm cooling water and the vapour from this is then condensed by the same seawater and collected. The evaporator within this process serves also as a cooler for the main engine.
Gefico evaporators are extremely compact and made using the highest quality materials such as conifer and bronze, guaranteeing a long life span. Another main advantage of these evaporators is that, providing there is enough residual heat, the relatively simple operation needs hardly any maintenance.
Reversal Osmosis Unit (R.O.Unit)
When there is a shortage of this residual water onboard, for instance due to the ship frequently lying still whilst at sea, then the choice would be for an Aquamar reverse osmosis unit. This system is based upon filtration through membranes placed in pressure tubes. Through this process the seawater is desalinated. The solutes remain in the concentrated residue. As long as electricity is available this system can always make water and furthermore can be placed anywhere on a ship.
